1/35 Suomi couple ! BMP-1 & MAZ-537

Most of these people havn`t been in the forest…;) Juho gives a great opinion, with the picture…
In 1944 there was only little roads, where the cattle and the shepperd walked along.. Still, theres small roads, with no litch…;) Landscape has no deployment with the infrastruse… only soil… :)
Thanks for your comments. Much appreciated, especially coming from finland native modelers.

So, for sure both the model and the base aren't over. I think I will add some more vegetation such as fern, or cut shrubs/trunks laying on the ground (good idea Antti :D !!!), but I won't overdo this cos I expect the eye attention to focus on the models. So only some little more vegetation to come.

You're no doubt right about 1944, but I have trouble understanding what that has to do with MAZ-537 & BMP-1…
Have you guys forgot everything they teach in school about Finnish forest types? There are more than one. :)

In dry areas there really isn't that kind of rich variety of plants like in the photo that Juho attached. Dry heath is common forest type in Finland and pines are very typical trees in there.

So you don't need to represent that kind of heavy bushes etc. but the ground still needs some moss, heathers, lichens and twigs to be more realistic.

Some photos for reference:

Nice work, Richard! The MAZ-537 is really one of the mighty machines. Like your enthusiasm to "Finlandize" these vehicles.
Hello,

Long time I have not updated the log. Well, here's an up with the whole being 95% done. Some details still have to be done (guns paint, windscreen and wipers, figs camo to be corrected…) before it's 100% over. it has already received its lot of washes, oil paint nuts wiped off, stains, rust, pigments…

Firstable I wanted my dio to have a real worth noticing name, well here goes with obvious origin that will leave no doubt to people passing by :

Then other views under the french winter sun (neither rain nor snow today ! Lucky time for outside pics !)

See the difference between BMP-1 and Maz camos ?

Hope you like it !

Richard
Excellent work m8 :-)
Awesome diorama. Nice to notice that so small country like Finland inspires to do so good diorama.

Only years have passed, roads look still same… in the woods… ;)
