1/35 Suomi couple ! BMP-1 & MAZ-537
I`m amazed, someone has this kind of intrest building some "Little Countrys"- vechile. Your keen to details is superb!!! Looking, what is coming… ;)
kiitos ! Thank you !
Hei,
I worked a little today on the MAZ.
The driver cab seemed very empty when compared to what the Tankograd soviet special 2005 shows. It's necessary to add details to the Trumpeter base, even if I know these are going to be hard to see when the model is finished…
The back panel of the cab has a lever for the engine air starting valve, that is so big you can't avoid it. Plus there's a sort of "wallpaper" in the cab that Trumpeter forgotten :

Then I also wanted more details on the ground of the cab, such as texture to the floor, a box at the right front of the cab, and the heater box. I also changed the seats for homemade ones, covered with lead foil to depict the slightly folded fabric covering…

Which at the moment gives the following when test-fitted :

I also added some woodboards in the forward part of the trailor (I know Ukraine did use them but what about Finland ? Can anyone help me ? Anyway these are removable on my model)

And as the diorama will take place in Finland at forest edge, I made my first ever attempt at building a pine tree with real pine small branch and "asparagus" (a plant that fills flower bouquets)

Regards,
Richard

Thanks Kristian.
Yes there is somethig wrong with the pine… the top thickness is an issue, plus there may need some more branches, I'll try and sort that out.
Cheers,
Richard

Hi Richard. Have you read this?:

I prefer also making trees from wire, more work, but more realistic look. There is an article at Armorama:

There is also few photos:

Jouni Koski has made his pine trees using a sauce twig, red currant branches and a static grass.

You can also try to simulate the foliage using steel wool.

Tomi Mynttinen has also made a great looking spruce tree.

Hello,
I felt so concerned about your constructive feedbacks on my first and rather bad attempt at making a pine tree.
So here is a second attempt, I tried to take your comments into account to finally make my own solution…

Comparison between first and second test…

So, what do you think about it ?
Cheers,
Richard
