Hi Kristian,
Thanks for your gentle words.
I think I used about one fourth (25%) of a Tamyia masking tape roll for the BMP-1.
If you consider that a Maz-537G and its trailer are next on the bench, the whole roll will be used…

Richard

Wow,well done Richard! It´s looking great!
Hello,
Here are some pictures of the BMP-1 with the first weathering steps achieved (washes, pigments, metal scratches…). The process is not finished but the end is near for this BMP-1.

Can you hear the MAZ-537 approching ???
Cheers,
Richard

Hi,
I was sent a PM here ;-) about the roundels that were both in the wrong place and too wide. I was silly enough to trust Italeri's plan…
I decided this had to be corrected to match the photos. It was done tonight :

The new roundels were made out of 1/48 Heller Mirage III french roundels…
Thanks again,
Cheers,
Richard

Outstanding job with painting! The camo brakes the shapes of BMP exaclty like the camo is suppose to do. Very realistic.
Hello,
Here is this huge project back again !
I started working on the MAZ 537 to modify details and upgrade some others to Finland trucks standards.
The engine and gas tank housing has a different rear panel on finnish Mazs than the one offered by Trumpeter :

Then the chassis with its Armory resin wheels (just set for the pic), it still needs some wiring :

the fifth wheel supports have been added, as well as a new rear lights bar, finland style. It is a worth noticing detail of the Suomi version of the MAZ

Then the winch box needed some work, new supports, to have it shifted a bit on the right. The position of the winchbox in the kit seems wrong, because it is not in the center :

I saw that important detail in the Tankograd Soviet special 2005 page 19, page 24, page 27… and AFV modeller issue 41 -july/august 2008 page 43. this pic also shows it to advantage :

This is what Trumpeter offers :

and I corrected it that way :

I hope you like it.
Comments always welcome.

Richard

Nice work with "finlandizing" the truck. Your progression with this kit is very interesting to follow.
Thank you for your kind words
